BEHAVIORAL EVENT INTERVIEW (BEI)
Most companies are not as rigorous
about hiring as they are about evaluating an investment
proposal, yet you can't build a great company
without strong people. Making a commitment to
hire strong people raises an even more basic question-
how do you know them when you see them?
New rules for smarter hiring recommend that you
hire attitude and then train for skills. Emphasis
has shifted from what you know to who you are
and so, it is now about finding people with the
right mind-set, attitude and personal attribute.
Thus a strong interview candidate can be better
described in terms of a set of underlying behaviors
frequently displayed at the workplace.
A set of competencies have been modified as Interview
Competencies, ten in all and some of them are
mandatory in that we can not easily teach them
in the classroom. It is by far cheaper to select
candidates who already have these competencies
than to start processing them for separation a
few years later.
Our Competency Based Interview Method, better
known as Behavioral Event Interview (BEI), is
a certification course that provides you with
tips on how to recognize these competencies in
an interview situation. Participants will develop
proficiency in the use of probing questions to
elicit the Selection Competencies from candidates
in an interview situation.
